OUR MISSION

Our mission is simple: to make contemporary dance accessible to all adults, regardless of age or background.

Our approach is a framework of consistent groups that go through a learning and training process over time — allowing for in-depth, intimate group and personal work. Bona is more than just a dance school; it is a community that celebrates inclusivity and a passion for dance.

We are expanding throughout Europe with highly professional teachers, offering a unique combination of contemporary and modern dance, improvisation, contact improvisation, and somatic work.

Do I need any dance experience to join?
Not at all. Our Beginner 1 classes are designed for people who have never danced before. There is no prior knowledge assumed and no test to pass. We start from where you are.
Can I try a class before committing?
Yes — a free trial session is available at the start of each programme. You can come and feel the group, the space and the teacher before deciding whether to enrol. No card required.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move freely in — yoga trousers, a t-shirt, whatever you'd wear to the gym. We dance barefoot or in soft-soled shoes. No special dancewear needed.
What is the difference between Contemporary Dance and Contact Improvisation?
Contemporary dance focuses on individual technique, spatial awareness and solo or guided group movement. Contact Improvisation is a partner and group practice — it's about listening through physical touch, sharing weight, and moving together without choreography. Both are beginner-friendly and complement each other well.
I'm over 40 — is that okay?
More than okay — most of our students are adults in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond. Bona was built for adult bodies and adult lives. Our classes are not about being young or flexible; they're about being present in your body and enjoying movement.
Are there reduced rates?
Yes. Reduced rates are available for students, seniors, job seekers, and anyone facing financial barriers. We believe dance should be accessible regardless of income — please just mention your situation when you register.
Can I join mid-season?
It depends on the class and how far into the season we are. Contact us and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense for the group you'd be joining. We'd rather be upfront than have you feel lost.
What if I miss a class?
Life happens. Depending on your enrolment, it may be possible to make up a class in another group. [★ REPLACE with your actual make-up class policy for this city.]
